Henry Fielding (1707¿1754) was an English novelist and dramatist known for his rich, earthy humor and satirical prowess, and as the author of the novel 'Joseph Andrews' (1742). Before his literary success, he was an esteemed playwright, producing more than 25 plays before turning his talents to the then-nascent form of the novel. His first major success in the novel form came with 'Shamela' (1741), a parody of Samuel Richardson's 'Pamela'.
